GEN. MARK W. CLARK. U.S.A. RET..
PRESIDENT EMERITUS
12 June
1975
To the Men of the 755th
Tank Battalion:
It
has been nearly 32
years since your battalion joined the Fifth Army in Italy, during
what became some of the most intense fighting of World War II. I
can recall that I could always depend on the 755th, particularly
when the fighting got tough along the Gustav line and many of the
engagements just to the south of Rome (e.g., around Naples and the Arno
River).
As we moved north in
ITaly, the 755th Tank Battalion
distinguished itself in the decisive fighting in the Po River
valley. By this time, the axis forces were pretty well
beaten.
There are very few tank units which
have won as many honors for courage
and Battle Honors you men won were richly deserved. I know the
French Expeditionary Corps and the British were indebted to you
for the support you rendered them. Your Battalion's
unselfishness, greatly facilitated my unified command.
may all of you enjoy the best of
health and much happiness in the
future.
Sincerely
singed
Mark W. Clark
General, USA (Ret.)
